In August, 2006, ‘Tapi’ river has crossed the maximum limit and covered almost ninety percentage of area in heavy flood, destroying hundreds of human life, thousands of animals. Nobody can derive the exact figure of financial losses as everything was ruined. The whole city was under cover of flood water for five days. A person, victim of the flood, would never forget the dreadful scenes in his life.
 

Without a call, cultured and sensible persons of Non Government Organizations (NGO) jumped into the relief work for affected people for the sake of humanity. Everybody contributed in different manner. Local and state Government authority has deployed their full task force into action. Salute to Honorable Chief Minister, Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, under whose direct supervision, the city revives to normal life in a remarkable short time. NGOs and surrounding people have joined the service for humanity, and have provided all the necessary aids like, food, water, medicines, cloths etc. The question was distribution of the aids. Due to lack of proper information and integration between NGOs and Government authority, aids seemed accumulated in one part and other part was ignored for immediate relief. Anyhow, with the help of NGOs and with Surti’s temper, government has accomplished the job within significant and remarkably short time frame.
 

To overcome the problem occurred while distribution of aids, a meeting was arranged between NGOs and Government officials. Seva-Setu TRUST was formed as a result of that thoughtful meeting of devoted, serviceable and foresighted people. There was a need of a trust which can be a chain between the NGOs and Government officials. If we consider NGO as a bead of garland, than Seva-Setu is a thread of that garland, which will take care of them and keep them together in the process of relief work and would not be exposed.
 

Seva-Setu was formed by the blessings of Mr. Pravinbhai Maniyar (Seva Bharti, Gujarat), Mr. Rao Saheb (Ex. Muni. Comm., Surat) and Mr. Mahapatra Saheb (Ex. Muni. Comm., Surat). The trust will exchange information between NGOs and Government authority, and will help or assist for result oriented and effective relief works at the time of disaster as well as in the normal time, it will be active in various social welfare activities like, BALPRATIBHAVIKAS PRAKALP, VANVASHI PRAKALP, STRIUTTHAN PRAKALP etc. Organization namely “Abhiyan” in Kutch is our role model.
 

Trust is honored by trustees who are well-known for their social welfare activities and all are devoted persons in their fields. There is no doubt, the trust will spread its wings in different horizons and contribute to every aspects of development of mankind and to society for welfare.
